My work is mostly a collection of spontaneous encounters throughout my day to day life. I paint narrative scenes that capture my interest; simple moments of life. My process often consists of working from photo reference, snapping a casual brush amongst friends, family, and the people I come across. I like to create a storytelling piece that represents the ordinary, because the ordinary can often be unexpectedly interesting. Working from life is also an important aspect of my work, particularly when creating a still life. Painting in oil, I try to keep things gestural and serene, while still conveying the personality and detail.
A self-taught artist, throughout the years I have supplemented my learning with in-person classes and workshops from local colleges and artists who I find inspiring.
